This is a straightforward book on general and essential thermal and statistical physics topics. In particular, the explanations and examples in the statistical mechanics’ section are concise and clearly explained. In particular, the explanation of the Sommerfeld expansion of quantum statistics and the explanation of why blackbody radiation occurs in relation to entropy is quite amazing. It seems the author really put quite a lot of effort to explain easily and concisely.

Well, this is a book for advanced electrodynamics. This book is a good alternative to John David Jackson’s “Classical Electrodynamics,” the most widely used book for advanced electrodynamics courses. The problem with J.D. Jackson’s book is that he treats too many things as trivial although they are not. This book provides much more thorough explanations compared to Jackson’s book so that even students in Physics II (or Fisica II) who have special interest in electromagnetism can read this book for further knowledge.

This is one of the most famous mathematics textbooks. It is also a good textbook to study measure theory. There are some studies in engineering that need the knowledge of complex analysis, electrical/electronics engineering being the epitome. In addition to applications in electrical/electronics, the complex analysis could be very important for mechanical engineers if they would like to study motions using quaternions. This book is available in the DISMA library, but the DISMA library is only accessible to students majoring in mathematics for engineering. I hope the fruits in this book is open to everyone at PoliTO, not only to mathematicians.

Although this is not the official textbook for Linear Algebra and Geometry course (Algebra Lineare e Geometria), I think this book is a better fit than the suggested textbook on the course guide page. The main reason for this claim is that this book is much better in terms of coherence with the linear algebra lectures given at PoliTo. To be honest, with the current linear algebra curriculum at PoliTO, this book should be the official text (at least for those courses taught in English). Also, this textbook is consulted by many top universities like MIT and Harvard.

Questo libro rappresenta la terza edizione del classico testo di riferimento per i corsi di Fisica 2. Ho potuto visionarlo durante l’AA passato e ne ho apprezzato le migliorie e gli ampliamenti. Vorrei far presente che la seconda edizione e’ ampiamente consigliata agli studenti da moltissimi docenti di fisica dell’ateneo.
